Eastern and Western PEI and a tropical storm

Image
So, we leave South Carolina during hurricane season and end up in the path of a tropical storm.  This evening and tomorrow, we are going to get a blast of tropical air with rain and wind. Just for perspective, here is an image of Prince Edward Island. We were in the far western portion the past few days and today traveled to another provincial park on the west right outside of Georgetown, a small fishing village.  It was about a three hour drive. We were staying at Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, right on a beach. fishing harbor about 200 yards from us The Beach One of the days, we traveled up the coast to a wind energy center.  There is wind energy everyone and the are so large. Back at the camp site, all we had to do was walk about five minutes to the dock to get live lobsters for 6 bucks.  We did that two of the three nights. The next day, we rode to a First Nation village where the people are struggli...

New River Beach Provincial Park and St. John

So we have spent few days here at New River Beach, a great park on the Bay of Fundy, the world's highest tides. We have had a few camper issues, I bent the door last week and on the way here, I lost one of the hatches. Replaceable but expensive.  I put a garden kneeling pad in there for now.  Ouch! . Here is the camper at New River Beach. Had an issue with Verizon as I called twice to make sure I had appropriate bandwidth for the trip only to learn Susan and I only get .5 gigs per day.  Not sure how I will much it will take to do the blog. Yesterday, we took at hike and her and went to a fantastic garden.  It so happens they were having a concert there with a folk jazz guy that is fairly well known here, David Myles.  He was really good. Made me feel at home! Today, we headed for St. Johns.  We took a great coastal hike and then ate lunch at the world famous reversing falls.  When the large tide comes it, it cover...

New Hampshire and the White Mountains

Image
This area was not originally in our plans.  It is about half way between where we were at Woodstock and New Brunswick where we are going. It turned out to a be a really cool place and although it rained quite a bit yesterday, we did get a flavor or the area. We drove through the Catskills to Gorham, New Hampshire where we are staying at Timberland Campground, a private place that is quite nice. / All these pictures are starting to look the same, I realize, but this is really New Hampshire. Susan cooked Tiki Masala, turned out great This morning, we cleaned up some of our mess and went to the Auto Road, a small windy road up to Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. 6288 ft.  When we started it was clear and beautiful out and we were hopeful that we would be one of the lucky ones to see it in clear weather.  Alas, that was not to be. Here are some images of Mt. Washington. Unfortunately, the cloud cover closed in...

We are not lost..... or missing... Woodstock

Image
Not a great way to start the blog but we ended up camping without electricity and so only now can I get started...... So here we go. Before we left we, cleaned and packed the Airstream and got the house ready for our house sitter, Lucas. All organized and ready to go. Looks pretty good and about as clean as it will. Monday, 8/12 Drove to Columbia to give Rowan a hug before we left.  We spent the first night in a hotel in North Carolina and made good time. Tuesday 8/13 We made to to Virginia and discovered a great little park.  Mostly empty. It is right on the river and I wish we had a bit more time as it looked quite fishy. Nice bike trail Wednesday 8/13 We had allowed for another day of travel to the Woodstock reunion but ended up getting there a day early.  Since we had time, we stopped by the festival site to get "travel passes". This was not 1969 and you could not get near...
